Eastern Yunnan is one of the important production bases of high-quality phosphate rock in China, where more than hundreds of phosphate deposits (or ore spot) has been found. Owing to lithofacies, palaeogeography and the depositional era, phosphate ore in Eastern Yunnan where numbers of phosphoric horizons have been found displays multi-periodic features. Research on these phosphoric horizons can expand prospect ideas and explore new prospect directions of phosphate ore in Yunnan. The research contributes to enlarging the reserves of phosphate ore resources, and changing the regional distribution and production status of phosphate ore in order to provide guarantee for sustainable exploitation and utilization of Phosphate Resources in Yunnan.Relying on the school-enterprise cooperation projects, the authors chose typical phosphate deposits as research object on the basis of plenty of geological data and field geological survey, the paper studied the distribution of phosphoric horizons, characteristics of phosphoric ore-layer and phosphate ore. In the meantime, the authors discussd the origin of phosphorus and analysed the lithofacies, palaeogeography and the sedimentary environment of phosphate rock formation. Finally, we pointed out the new beneficial layer of phosphate in Easren Ynnan. Achievements and cognitions obtained in this paper are as follows:(1)A new phosphoric horizon has been found in the first member of Falang Formation of middle Triassic, represented by Shelong phosphate in Qiubei, has important significance and certain industrial value. Futher more, this horizon can be regarded as the new prospect direction in southeast Yunnan.(2)Phosphate ore displays multi-periodic features in Eastern Yunnan, where a number of phosphoric horizons have been found. Among them, the Meishucun Formation of Lower Cambrian is the most important and largest industrial significance one.(3) Study the characteristics of stratum distribution, lithology, phosphoric ore-layer, phosphate ore and typical phosphate deposits by a large number of maps, photographs and test data.(4) The phosphoric horizons of Donggangling Formation of Middle Devonian and Falang Formation of middle Triassic separately represented by Buda phosphatein Guangnan and Shelong phosphate in Qiubei. The study focus on the characteristics of orebody, phosphoric ore-layer, phosphate ore and origin of deposit of(5) Briefly introduce features of stratum distribution and lithology of phosphoric horizons such as Nazhang Formation of upperSinianseries,Meitan Formation of Lower Ordovician,Liujiang Formation Upper Devonian etc. Phosphoric horizons mentioned above can be new objects of future study and prospect.(6) The formation of phosphate is controlled by phosphorus sources, lithofacies, palaeogeography and sedimentary environment in Eastern Yunnan. Ancient land and submarine volcanic eruption are the main phosphorus source of phosphate in eastern Yunnan.
