The Karakorum Mountains are situated between the north of West Kunlun mountains and the northwest of Himalayan mountains, in northwest and southeast directions, they are boundary mountains between China and Kashmir, the average altitude is about 6000m. Karakorum mountains in China contains the south of high moutains of four counties in Xingjiang, they are Tashkorgan, Yecheng, Pishan and Hetian repectively, and the northwest of Ritu county in the Ali Region of Tibet. In this paper, we systematically studied taxonomy of Sympetalae (except Compositae) plants, on its basis species diversity was analysed which including the trait of genera and species, life form and flora constitution character and so on. At the end the resource was apprasied and classfied. The research indicated that:About 13 family,35 genera,110 species and 1 variaties of Sympetalae (except Compositae) plant were recorded to occur in the Karakorum Mountains of China. which repectively accounting for 28.89% of families,17.24% of genera,16.87% of species in Karakorum mountains in China and accounting for 16.87% of families,20.11% of genera,17.86% of species in Sympetalae (except Compositae) in Xinjiang. Among them, there are 10 new species on Karakorum Mountains of China:Lomatogonium thomsonii, Myosotis suaveolens, Eritrichium sinomicrocarpum, Eritrichium pauciflorum, Lappula ferganensis, Lappula brachycentra, Scrophularia dentate, Linaria longicalcarata, Euphrasia regelii, Lonicera humilis and 3 new species in Xinjiang:Gentiana ludlowii, Gentiana crenulatotrancata, Swertia wolfangiana. On the level of species, monotypic genera of Sympetalae (except Compositae) in this area is in the ascendant, there are 67 species with an accounting for 60.90% of total species. On the level of genera, the percentage of genera with single species and few species is the largest with an accounting for 74.28% of total genus number. The endemic phenomenon was not obvious. The 51.82% of species of Sympetalae (except Compositae) in this area are Hemicryptophyte, and therefore they are the dominating components in the plant life form spectrum in this area. The 31.82% of species of Sympetalae (except Compositae) in this area are Therophytes and The 16.36% of species of Sympetalae (except Compositae) in this area are Chamaephytes. The composition of flora of Sympetalae (except Compositae) was complex in this area. The genera of Sympetalae (except Compositae) were distributed to 5 areal-types and 5 variable. The temperate quality was obvious, there are 27 generas and 83 species with an accounting for 77.14% in total genera and 75.45% in total species. The relations of flora in Karakorum mountains in China are closer with that in the Pamirs of China, their similarity coefficients of family and genera and species are 68.42% and 51.47% and 42.45% respectively, but weaker with that in Eastern Himalaya, their similarity coefficients of family and genera and species are 44% and 7.41% and 0.93%. Sympetalae (except Compositae) plant resources were rich in the area, many species have value in medicine and viewing. The article provided basic science information for lucubrating how to protect biology diversity in the Karakorum mountains of China.
