The general level of consumer prices can be re?ected by the consumer priceindex. The consumer price index is a statistical price changing index whichre?ects the goods and services price of residents. Usually it is used as an importantindex to monitor the level of in?ation. In this thesis, we introduce the basic theory of Bayesian networks, and pro-pose an improved K2 algorithm of Bayesian networks, and use this new methodto analyze the factors of rural consumer price index in the empirical point of view. Our results show that: food and the living of rural residents directly affectthe consumer price index; tobacco and liquor, medical care and supplies, enter-tainment, educational supplies and services to the residents do not directly affectthe consumer price index. This is consistent with the main components of ruralconsumption. Consumption in rural areas is focus on eat, live, wear because thepurchasing power of rural areas is small and most of the money spent on theurgent food and clothing on. Our results consist with that of Wei-Wei He andHao Tian [33] obtained from the regression model.
