Landslide is one of three natural disasters which is only second to earthquakesand floods. The landslide often destroys buildings, blocks traffic and endangersproject construction and ecological environment, especially the landslide of traffictrunk line, which often destroys the road, blocks traffic and causes the disruption oftraffic transportation. As the complex terrain, rupture growth and poor vegetationcover, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is a landslide-prone railway lines. Therefore, theQinghai-Tibet Railway on the basis of landslide risk assessment. This paper selects geological conditions, topography, climate, vegetation andhuman activities and landslide hazardous in 5 aspects of 12 specific indicators, application of GIS tools and quantitative, semi-quantitative method, produce thelandslide along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway analyzing lithology, slope, relativelyelevation difference, rainfall, river density, vegetation coverage rate, earthquakeintensity, faults zone, landslides point density, frequency, vegetation destruction rate ,mine project density and so on which cause the landslide, and finally by landslideassessment model assessing the landslide hazardous along the Qinghai-Tibet Railwayand the assessment results show that: Qinghai-Tibet railway will be divided into 5 risklevel, which is high, higher, medium, low, lower. Thereinto the high-risk area is about84 km, which is accounting for 4% of the whole railway and mainly in the Yangbajing- Lhasa; more high-risk areas is 742 km, which is accounting for about 38% of thewhole and mainly in Xining - Haiyan area, Tianjun-Keke section, the KunlunMountains, Nagqu Amdo, and Tanggula Mountain areas; The medium risk areas is 492km, which is accounting for 25% of the whole and mainly in the River - Yanshipingregion and male basin areas; the lower risk zone is 214 km, which is accounting for11% of the whole and mainly in the Qinghai Lake basin area; Qaidam Basin is lowrisk areas, which is through the route of 433 km, accounting for 22% of the whole andthe distribution area in the Qaidam Basin. Finally draw the Qinghai-Tibet Railwaylandslide hazard zone map.According to the Qinghai-Tibet railway operation system landslide riskperception, related departments should take active responding measures: first, on thebasis of full investigation and verification, to enhance the forecasting and prevention of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, to fully make per-arranged planing; second, to stick tothe principles of "prevention first, treatment second" principles and comprehensivelytreat the major disaster risks point region, for the high-grade danger zone we shouldincrease the prevention, monitoring and precautionary; third, to insist on the principlesof scientific and practical and build the new management system of landslidehazardous management strategy for prevention first.
