Qinghai belongs to Plateau continental climate, with the characteristics of low temperature, large temperature difference between day and night, few and concentrated rainfall, long sunshine time, strong solar radiation, et al. Because of significant differences of climate, there are also significant differences of Animals and Plants. From 2007 to 2009, Parnassius Imperator Oberthür in Xining Western Mountain, Qinghai were surveyed and researched. The habitats of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür in this region were observed, including the flight habits, flower-visiting behavior, mating and spawning behavior, and the type and coverage of the vegetation and human factors were analyzed, which influenced the habits of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür.The results of the study were as followings.1. The study found that the number of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür did not directly relate to the total coverage; various vegetation cover ratio was the main factor of affecting the distribution of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür.2. The vegetation influencing Parnassius Imperator Oberthür included Pale Corydalis, Hedrysarum multijugum, Alli-umcyaneum kegel. Parnassius Imperator Oberthür often did not appear in the trees and shrubs region; According to the flower-visiting analysis, Pale Corydalis was the main nectar plant; According to primary and secondary, the nectar plant of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür were Pale Corydalis, Hedrysarum multijugum, Alli-umcyaneum kegel and Caragana jubata.3. According to observations, due to the appropriate climate, sunshine, geographical and other conditions, Parnassius Imperator Oberthür appeared from June to August, July was the period of peak activity; the period of frequent activities in every day is from 12:00 to 14:00.4. The study found that the influence of human activities on Parnassius Imperator Oberthür was great. Parnassius Imperator Oberthür depended on the habitat vegetation types. The interference of human activities had a significant impact on their number. Once the living environment was damaged, the habitat would change and it also would lead to the sharp decline of the number of Parnassius Imperator Oberthür, even to the edge of extinction.
