The Problems Faced By China's Merchandise Exports. Green Trade Barriers And Countermeasures

The green trade barrier (GTB) means that, in international trade activities, in order to protect the environment, a series of trading policies was proposed by the country, which restricts the imports from foreign countries so that domestic products and market can be protected. In the developed country, due to the high intensive use of technology in production and public awareness of environment protection, it requires not only the final product, but every step of the process, including, research, improvement, production, packaging, transport, consume, recycling and reuse, to satisfy the standards of environmental protection. This brings huge impacts to domestic exportation and international competitiveness. In this article, it will firstly introduce the definition of the green trade barrier, together with the reasons, characteristics and manifestations. On top of this, the influence of the GTB to domestic production and exports will be analyzed, and the suggestions on action that to should be taken to due with GTB.
