Through long time development, Chinese shoes have quickly become popular in international market because of their high quality and low price. China has also become the largest shoe-making country in the world. However, the glory can't conceal the existing problems. There are still many shortcomings in the shoe-making industry in China. That's why China is"a large shoe-making country"but not"a strong shoe-making country".In the year 2001, China successfully became a member of WTO. Challenges file in. The traditional comparative advantages of Chinese shoes making industry have been challenged.Meanwhile, with the development of the economy, the price of material and cost of labor is increasing, so the strongest comparative advantage in China-cost advantage is disappearing. This, no doubt, gives a large influence to Chinese shoe–making industry.This research begins with the condition of Chinese shoes industry, analyzes the comparative advantages and disadvantages, and explains what the challenges brought by WTO and now the rise of the cost influence the comparative advantages of Chinese shoes industry. At last, the research brings forward some suggestions to solve the problem and to develop the comparative advantages of the industry.
