The Evaluation And Selection Of Suppliers

In the 21^st century, the trend of globalization speeds up, generally all enterprises face a unpredictable and rapidly changing market environment. In order to keep competitive advantage in the fierce environment, enterprises have to satisfy customer's individuated demand by best quality product and service to remain and expend market share. Quality control is a permanent matter for all enterprises. Meanwhile, as the development of socialization of production, social work tend to more compartmentalized as we specialize. Specialization and cooperation become a new trend among enterprises, therefore, supply chain, now plays an important role in the production. Somehow, the competition among organizations shifts to the competitive of supply chains. In supply chain, suppliers are the indispensable. The products quality that supplier produced determines the final products quality and the enterprise's competitive ability. Now the supplier quality management and supplier evaluation gain more and more concern by scholar and managers' attention. This essay, based on my personal working experience, gives a detail explain and analysis of the supplier quality management and supplier evaluation from Total Quality Management, ISO9000:2000 standard and Supply Chain Management.First, the thesis systematically describes the idea of Total Quality Management, the application of ISO9000:2000 in quality management practice and the process of forming quality and the principle of quality management under the environment of supply chain. Second, introduces the background and objective of SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) and explain SQE working processes, contents and methods by chart and reference based on personal experience. Finally, the thesis explains how to evaluate suppliers' quality system by using FRI method and qualitative or quantitative analysis of a quality control method. Meanwhile, from the view point of supplier, the thesis also analyze the principle of supplier evaluation, and establish the supplier comprehension assessment system.
