Sima Qian's Economic Thought

This thesis attempts to study the economic thoughts of Si Maqian, the Chinese famous historian in Han Dynasty. His thoughts is very special in Chinese history .In order to understand his economic thoughts,we should first know the basis of his thoughts :YiLiGuan which is about how to deal with the profit and the morality in the business activity and in the daily life of the society. In order to get profit ,people always try their best to do various business .People can do public welfare and obey the law and regulation if they are wealthy.So SiMaqian thought profit is the basis of morality and the motive force of the society development.But he also pay much more attention on the morality .In his opinion , morality can standardize or conform people's behavior,especially in pursuing profit.All in all,profit and morality are dialectical unity.Reviewing his economic thoughts ,there existed ZhiShengZhiXue —the microeconomic thoughts and ShanYinLun---the macroeconomic thoughts. ZhiShengZhiXue studies the continuity in becoming rich between country and private home .This theory also expresses the way of managing personal financial affairs and provides various methods for receiving wealth to private person ,such as how to choose the profession in order to become wealthier according to your own situation;how to defend your wealth after you are wealthy .Shan YinLun is on the basis of Huang Lao Zhi Xue which was popular at the beginning of Han Dynasty and was the guide of the economic policy.This theory maintains that pursuing profit is the natural instincts of people .So the business activities can develop freely ,government need't have a hand in them and can't compete with the private capital.This theory also stands for that agriculture and business should grow together .And government should pay much more attention on the development of western part of China has many which advantages of resource and geography situation. If the country follows the policies mentioned above it will become stronger and stronger.We study the thoughts of ancient China in order to receive something helpful for our current reform.The thesis will make a further discussion about the immediate...
