Multinational Banks In China Risk Management Studies

Besides the basic risks as other banks may encounter, a multinationalbank will encounter special risks due to the changes of the externalenvironment. This thesis has shown not only the above two types of risks, butalso those that multinational banks will face specially in China. With the entryof WTO, Chinese banking market has been open widely to the foreign banks.One after another they brought with many kinds of new businesses. However,at the same time, multinational banks have been confronted with some riskssuch as market risk, credit risk, and operation risk which will restrict theirdevelopment in China in varying degrees. In this thesis, some risk management ways and several new methods inthis area will be introduced. There are two cases about StandardCharteredBank and Citi Bank. Both of the two have rich experiences in riskmanagement and they dealt very well with risks in China by their ownadvanced means. The same with the above two, Douche Bank shows its greatstrength in Hong Kong. These experiences are all useful for Chinese banks todraw on. In the last part, there are some suggestions for Chinese banks of how todevelop their ways in risk management.
