With the rapid growth of technology and knowledge economy, and in the tide ofeconomic globalization, the international competition is more and more characterizedwith the competition on technology and knowledge accumulation. Currently,technological advancement has been the most significant impetus to the moderneconomic growth.Technological advancement can be achieved either by the independent technologicalinnovation of each country, or by technological transmission (in the wish to fullyutilize the global economic resources). Technological transmission is divided into twotypes: voluntary technological diffusion and involuntary technological outflow.By explaining the relationships between international trade and several other elements(technological advancement, transmission and innovation), this article particularlytakes a closer look at the relationship between technological advancement andinternational trade, and finally comes to a conclusion that technological advancementcan boost a nation's foreign trade and enhance its competitiveness in the world market.Aiming at the status quo of our foreign trade, this article also puts forward asuggestion that we must get involved in the international trade adamantly by way oftechnological advancement, particularly with those technologies developed byourselves. Only in this way can we raise our competitiveness in the world market.Only by enforcing the strategy of "Technology advances foreign trade, and foreigntrade flourishes technology", can we keep our foreign trade on a sound and sustainedpath of development.
