As Financial globalization, commercial banks in the whole world have meet an environment that both the opportunities and the challenges coexists. At the present time, commercial banks in china, especially state-owned commercial banks, have most characteristics which the commercial banks have in the transitional economy and in developing countries, such as commercialization reform not being finished, poor management mechanism, poor performance and so on, these restrict the commercial banks from playing an important role. At the special phase, China has entered WTO (the World Trade of Organization), whole the financial market almost will be open in a few years, commercial banks in China will compete with all kinds of rivals, such as large foreign commercial banks, middle & small foreign commercial banks, non-bank financial institutions. In other words, competence of commercial banks has been focused on being discussed and studied. There after, it is very important in theory and in realism to discuss how to enhance competence of the Chinese commercial banks.In theory study, the problem interrogated first and defined the competence of commercial banks. Then study on competence theories and the main study orientation of domestic and foreign.The third chapter has analyzed in external and internal environment which our country commercial bank faces. Through the external environment we analysis the opportunities and the challenges that commercial bank faces. Then research on the substitution competition analysis compared with non-bank institute. At last through further analyzed interior resources and the ability of commercial banks, pointsout the competitive advantages and disadvantages.In the fourth chapter has conducted the data comparative analysis and the principal components analysis to commercial banks competitive ability, further has confirmed the related conclusions.The fifth chapter mainly discussed the competitive ability about commercial banks in US, Germany, Japan and so on. Obtains are that, the good external environment, the excellent government structure, the effective risk control as well as the difference product and service competitive strategy, all of these are important to enhance the commercial bank competitive ability.Finally, through the research above, suggestions about how to enhance the competitive of commercial bank are as follows: further deepen the commercial bank system reform, and establish perfect company government structure;Next, in carries on in the foundation to the commercial bank customer which effectively subdivides, is clear about the development direction and the market localization;Once more, persists the difference path in the product and the service aspects;Finally, promotes human resource in the commercial banks.
