Originated from Northeastern University, Neusoft Group Ltd is a software company aiming at being a leading solution provider in China. As a key part of Software & Services Solution, software outsourcing of Neusoft has made a great stride recent years. The outsourcing revenue has been more than 30 million US Dollars in 2004, which reaches the first place in the list of China Top Ten Outsourcing Firms. As a main part of outsourcing, BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) has been developing into an important business with great potential after software outsourcing. As a leader of China outsourcing industry, Neusoft is planning to step into the BPO market formally. What's the characteristics of BPO, how about the market status, what's the situation of domestic enterprises including Neusoft, who are the competitors, how about the competition position, how to integrate our strengths to form the core capability, how to map out the development strategy, how to avoid the risks, these all will be the main issues of this article.After a deep investigation to the BPO industry and Neusoft which I'm working for, and directed by the strategy & marketing management theories, I've made a basic conclusion, that is, based on Neusoft current resources and strengths, structuring the core capability through integration, selecting proper business items to start up, exploiting the market and executing each project with excellent human resource, satisfying customer's customized demand by value innovation; establishing alliance relationship with advantaged enterprises and seeking to expand the business through acquisition at a proper occasion, then forming an engine and support power to the BPO business. Meanwhile, this article has described the BPO business goals, key business items, business model, development strategies and risk avoidance. Moreover, there're some points that should be made clear. First, BPO is a new field to China although there's a fast growth overseas. For its high bulwark, few domestic companies involve BPO business totally at present, and the theory study for BPO also just starts. Secondly, this article focuses on the common strategy for BPO. As for a definite item, such as Call Center, IDC, and Data Process, each one should have an individual strategy. So this article is just a reference to Neusoft and the industry. I hope there're more and more scholars and entrepreneurs participating in this study.
