Rail transit equipment industry is one of five key development directions in the high-end equipment manufacturing industry set by the State Council, which has a strong impetus to the development of national economy and society. With the continuous development of rail transit equipment industry, as the core content of manufacturing informatization, ERP has become the key to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Either the host companies or supporting enterprises have paid heavily for the ERP system. The companies hope to take ERP project implementation as an opportunity to fully carding enterprise business processes, improve the level of enterprise management and improve enterprise’s market competitiveness. ERP project implementation, however, is complex system engineering, and the implementation process has all kinds of risks, while the results of implementation are difficult to control. ERP project implementation of Rail transit equipment industry is not satisfactory. The information systems on which the companies spend heavily can’t really play its greatest effect, and some even become a stumbling block to the enterprise rapid development.K Company is a typical rail transit equipment supporting enterprise; and its main business is railway vehicle door systems. Thanks to the leapfrog development of rail transit equipment industry in our country, K Company has won the opportunities of rapid growth, and has become the nation’s largest railway vehicle door systems research and development manufacturing enterprise.Concerning the status of the industry above, this paper takes the ERP project of K Company as an example for empirical research based on the theoretical knowledge. Firstly the writer reviews the basic theory of ERP, including the concept and development of ERP, ERP project implementation characteristics and steps; Secondly the writer introduces the background of K company, main problems of K Company information system, and the overall plan of ERP for K company; Thirdly the writer describes the complete plan of K company’s ERP project implementation, including: project organization structure, implementation schedule and milestones. This paper focuses on the implementation of K production planning module ERP example, including present situation description, analysis, the problems existing in the system requirements, system implementation steps and implementation effect. Finally, the writer makes a summary of the benefits and problems of ERP project in K Company, and makes a prospect of the information construction.The writer hopes that the ERP company K project experience gained in the implementation provides a reference for the implementation of manufacturing ERP project for the rail transportation equipment.
