The paper, based on the theory and research results on intangible assets, studies, via statistical regression analysis, the impact of tourism enterprises’intangible assets on their performances in China, with a data sample of 32 listed companies in Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange in tourism industry from 2014 to 2011. The results show that the intangible assets of tourism enterprises have a positive effect on both their short-term and long-term performance. In order to explore the degree of impact from intangible assets, according to different intangible assets’properties, the paper divides them into:land use right, patent technology and franchise, software, and other intangible assets. The degree of contribution varies in the descending order as follows:software, land use right, patent technology and franchise, other intangible assets. In order to investigate the difference in the contribution from four types of tourism enterprises, according to different products and services they provide, the paper divides those enterprises into three categories:hotel dining, scenic spots, and travel agencies. Among the three, intangible assets of hotel dining contribute the most to enterprise performance, hotel dining contribute less than travel agencies, and scenic spots contribute the least.Based on the results above, the paper put forwards several suggestions in four respects-investing more in intangible assets, enhancing intangible assets management, optimizing intangible assets structures, and improving intangible assets accounting.
