Multiple-input multiple-output, multi-mode multi-band, and other modern new communication technologies are dependent on the use of multiple antennas, which makes multiple antenna need to be installed at the same communication platform. However, multi-antenna integration at limited space like the mobile station will be a very challenging task. On the one hand, the antenna element need not only to have good performance but also have compact dimensions; On the other hand, when multiple antennas are integrated in a limited space, there must be a good low-relevance between the antenna elements. This paper is aiming at the problems from above, making the broadband small inverted F antenna (PIFA) and the correlation between the antenna elements as the main object of study and giving innovative and exploratory research. The main contents of the paper are:Chapter I introduces the significance, historical background, research progress and the status quo, and development trend of domestic and foreign research of the small-scale wideband inverted F antenna and multi-antenna integration, and describe the major work in this paper.Chapter II gives related theories of the broadband inverted F antenna miniaturization and multi-antenna integration technology.Chapter III describes the design of a small-scale wideband inverted F antenna, giving the detailed process that how the typical inverted F antenna evolves into the inverted F antenna designed in this paper.Chapter IV presents a new technical approach, which is placing the antennas at the edge of ground, to lower the mutual coupling, and on this basis, design a dual inverted F antenna system with low mutual coupling, consisting of antenna unit based on the planar inverted-F antenna.Chapter V gives the theoretical capacity of the dual PIFA antenna designed in chapter IV through a MIMO capacity formula. Compared with the dual PIFA antenna without placing the antennas at the edge of ground and SISO antenna systems, the capacity value significantly increases.Chapter VI represents full summary.
