Cloud storage is a new concept in the extension and development of cloud computing. By clustering applications, grid or distributed file systems and other functions, a large number of different types of storage devices in the network could work together through software application, and provide an external access to data storage and business functions. Cloud storage service providers exploit a simple "pay-on-demand" model, in which a low-cost, high reliable data and applications is provided in the online storage service. For individual users insensitive to data security, it is very convenient and practical. All devices in the cloud are completely transparent to the users. No matter where, any authorized user can conveniently access the data in the cloud through a cable. In this paper, cloud storage for individual PC users or mobile phone users is tentatively researched and implemented. It has some practical significance and research value.In this paper, the concept of file, file system and VFS (virtual file system) are introduced firstly. After that, the architecture, security model and API of S3 (Simple Storage Service) are explained in detail. After in-depth mastering the filesystem-related knowledge, a VFS-based file system is designed and implemented,which only possesses some common file system functions, including simple data read, write and delete operations by interaction with S3. Based on VFS personal cloud storage design is implemented. Finally, in order to validate the program's rationality and feasibility, a test environment is built for testing the performance of each operation, and the test data is analyzed. Since the new file system's functionality is not perfect, scalability is not good, it only just be applied in single-client environment. In the future, personal cloud storage of multiple clients will be achieved, a higher I/O rate of file system servers will be researched, data security management and data disaster recovery capabilities will be enhanced, and data reliability and security will be improved.
