| Two mainly factors are contributed to the narrow scan beam coverage of the traditional microstrip phased array: one is the exist of the mutual coupling between the elements, which will produces enormous reflectance when the array scans its main beam to a certain angle, and scan blind due to the energy being reflected completely. Another, the energy of antenna element can only distribute in the limit range, array constructed by which could only limit its energy in a certain range. Obviously, phased array with narrow scan beam can not satisfy the modern science and technology, for solving this difficult, this paper investigates a phased array, which constructed by reconfigurable antenna elements, and enables to achieve a bigger scan beam coverage and lower sidelobe. The content of the article is briefly arranged as follows:The first chapter is introduction, in which, the purpose of the idea being proposed, history background, the currently status and the development trend of the reconfigurable array is briefly summarized, and the main task of this paper is also illustrated. The second chapter expounds the essential principle of the reconfigurable antenna and its phased array. The research of the third chapter begins with the traditional single-dipole, explores the reconfigurable antenna evolved by the traditional antenna, and explains the meaningful of the reconfigurable antenna. The forth chapter designs a phased array constructed by the mushroom radiation reconfigurable antenna proposed in the third chapter. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the whole paper. |
