Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) is a very innovative multimedia broadcast system. Its aim is to gradually replace the existing AM and FM audio broadcast systems in some parts of the world. The main content of this thesis has detailed a project on design and implementation of the T-DAB Transmitter which is used to form a DAB Transmission System. Both thought style and structure of the Systems Engineering methodology have been applied in the whole product-life of the T-DAB Transmitter, including system requirements definition, system specifications analysis, subsystems design, fabrication and debugging of the transmitter. In terms of reliability for some key analog circuits, Monte Carlo method has been used as an effective tolerance analysis tool to estimate the variation of analog circuit performances caused by components tolerance, and optimized the analog circuit design solution. Validation tests were conducted with a DAB receiver and other associated equipments. The test results showed that the T-DAB transmitter performed according to its specification, that is to say, the T-DAB transmitter can work properly on all the broadcast channels of Band III limited in DAB Standard. The research work of this thesis has demonstrated that, Systems Engineering Process with some necessary tolerance analysis is an effective and feasible way to achieve reliable technical solutions in the area of circuit systems design.
