Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs) are widely used in modern military areas, such as satellite communications, radars, electron warfare and so on. Since their invention, TWTs'working stability has become the emphasis factor in many applications. There are many factors that influence the stability of TWT, and among which the reflecting oscillation initiating by the mismatch on the slow wave structure (SWS) is an important one that is inevitable because of the impossibility of matching the SWS, the input structures and output structures during the bandwidth. For the sake of suppressing reflecting oscillation and improving the working stability of TWTs, attenuators and severs are added in SWS. The primary study of suppressing reflecting oscillation by attenuators and severs are studied and numerical results are also included in this article. The first part of this article provided an overview of the extensive application of TWT, the development direction and situation, and the brief introduction on the basic principles of TWT.In the second part, the non-linear theory of helix TWT, the field equations of the cold structure, and the equations of motion under the disc model are studied. The space charge fields based on the theory is also included. The third part analysis the nature of the scattering matrix, gives the simulation equations of the electronic motion when attenuator and sever are added, proposes the initial value of numerical simulation. On the basis of the second and third parts, draw the process flow chart, using C language compiled the simulation program. Then discussed the calculation results, using the result that the procedure given to calculate the minimum theoretical value of the reflection oscillation.
