As the fast development of wireless communication technology, Mobile Ad hoc NETworks(MANETs) have got a lot attention in tactical field and civilian use. The extensive use of MANETs not only needs enough transmission capacity, but also bearer many apps. So it's very necessary to make the network has a service management system which has maximum efficiency and reliable working. Until now, MANETs have got a large number of research results in routing layer, link layer and physics layer protocol, but it still have great space of development in service management in application layer.Usually, network services are running on a particular node for other nodes. When an ordinary node wants to get services, it will first find if the service is existing and where it is by service discovery. But the node which supply services may can not offer the services it registered to other nodes for network faults or the node will leave the networks. So it's very important to use an efficient service monitoring mechanism to assure the services which the user gets by searching are effective. A reasonable service discovery protocol is the guarantee for user to get services and use services quickly. When the services are running, it maybe declines the quality or forced to suspend for performance degradation or leaving networks,we hopes to migrate services running on the other nodes. A reasonable service migration mechanism can improve the flexibility, validity and continuous of a service in MANETs. An effective service management system must achieve service discovery and service migration mechanism to adapt the changeable of MANETs.In this paper, we first analysis the features, basic principles and related technologies of MANETs, also the process of the service use and faced problems, summarize two key technical points: service discovery and service migration. Then we propose the design of service management system, modular all functions. We design every module and related messages and database. In the part of service discovery, we choose the node which has better performance to be the cluster head which manage the service discovery of the cluster, receive the service registration and cancellation, and monitor the registered services. We imply the function of service registration and cancellation, and service search. In the part of service migration, we imply the functions of service request, service control, service destruction and etc. We design a service migration mechanism according context by collecting node performance data, Lagrange interpolation processing data, fuzzy multi-attribute decision making algorithm choosing destination node and Aglet. Last, we combine service discovery and service migration to be a complete service management system. Function and performance have been tested in target network and Linux OS. All the codes were written by Java.
