Wireless networks are continually being improved, and providing better performance to users. However requirements are also continually increasing. These requirements include better quality of service to users in different service classes and seamless communication within wireless environment. In order to satisfy these requirements, this thesis investigates novel approaches to implement cooperative control in state of art wireless networks. Hybrid cellular networks are such networks. All the solutions are validated in a large scale wireless simulator. Firstly, hybrid cellular networks structures and attributes are introduced. Then hybrid cellular networks cooperative control schemes and purposes are discussed. Later on cooperative control algorithm: cooperative pilot power control algorithm is discussed in a representative hybrid cellular network called Relay Based Cellular Networks (RBCNs). RBCNs work under Mobile WiMAX wireless technology. This enables RBCNs realizing broadband wireless communication. Experiments have been conducted comparing this algorithm to a state of art algorithm. After this, because hybrid cellular networks are always combines with other wireless networks to form heterogeneous wireless networks, so this thesis designs hybrid cellular networks cooperative control scheme in heterogeneous wireless networks to enable users selecting rational wireless networks to improve user quality of service. Finally, the thesis concludes the work and gives a brief description of future work on hybrid cellular networks cooperative control.
