Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging (TWRI) can obtain the mage of the target region after obstacle which includes target image, region layout image, etc, by transmitting the electromagnetic wave through the electromagnetic non-transparent dielectric, such as wall, tree, brush, fog, and so on. The study and implement of TWRI application provides theoretical support and practical basis for extending TWRI technique, which is the focus of through-the-wall radar research in the world.There are some problems to be faced in practical applications of TWRI, such as the interference of wall echo for behind-wall target echo, the displacement of target image due to unknown wall parameters, identifying the statistical target and micro-motion target in image domain, etc. In order to solve these problems, the main work is developed as follows:1.The fundamentals of the wideband beamforming for TWRI are studied, and three evaluation methods of azimuth resolution are analyzed, which are verified to be uniformly valid by simulation results.2.Present the echo model of TWRI and analyze the difference of target echo and wall echo. The algorithms of wall echo suppression based on wall echo estimation and spatial filtering are researched, which are verified by simulation results.3.The echo model of micro-motion in TWRI is proposed. Present a novel method for imaging micro-motion based on extracting micro-Doppler frequency through FFT and wideband beamforming. Simulation and experiment results verify that the proposed method removes the statistical target image and obtains the micro-target image.4.Present three multi-view TWRI models. Three multi-view imaging algorithms based on image fusion are researched. A multi-view image fusion algorithm is presented based on the evaluation criterion of image quality. A multi-view imaging algorithm based on data fusion is proposed. These algorithms are validated and analyzed by experiment results. In the end, other applications of through-the-wall radar multi-view imaging algorithm are introduced.Through the researches of these models and algorithms, the practical applications of TWRI can be implemented, such as target localization with unknown wall parameters based on TWRI, TWRI of micro-motion target, imaging detection of weak target in building, imaging of building layout, and so on, which can support the future research.
