Study Of Public Debate On Television Talk Shows

With the continuous development of China's TV media, public-debate TV talk show, this new form of television talk show began to emerge in China's television screens. Although the number of such types of programs is very little, it has aroused people's attention. Public-debate TV talk show's appearance, on the one hand affected the traditional form of television programs, and on the other hand also affected the public's real life. This article meanly made a comprehensive analysis on the public-debate TV talk show. The article drew an outline of the public-debate TV talk show's definition, based on the development, styles and the current situation of television talk shows. And also it studied and deconstructed the elements of this program and analyzed the characteristics and effects of the various role elements. Then the article revealed the inherent laws of this type program, analyzed this type program's impact on society, and researched the reasons why the shows drew people's attention through the dissemination of the theories. This article attempted to sum up the advantages of this type of program, analyzed the shortcomings of the current programs, and made proposals for the shows' future development.The article is divided into six sections. Part one is introduction. It explained the purpose of writing this thesis and the present condition of research on this type programs both at home and abroad, and introduced the main research methods in this thesis briefly. The second part outlined the public-debate TV talk show. Domestic scholars merely studied such programs relatively, so the article is necessary to define the public-debate TV talk show and analyze the history of its development and production background. Part there analyzed the public-debate TV talk show. Because this type program's form is relatively new, it is necessary to deconstruct the elements of such programs, and analyzed the role of them played in the program. Through these analyses it resolved Phoenix's classic program, "Tiger Talk". Part four talked the public-debate TV talk show in the view of the mass communication. It analyzed the communication features of this program through the views of the mass communication, and revealed the rules of program's communication. Part five is the analysis of the public-debate TV talk show's function. This article analyzed the social function of public-debate TV talk show in the view of sociological point. Part six is summary. It summarized the research of the article, and thus leaded to the prospects of this type program and predicted the trends of the public-debate TV talk show.
