This thesis is a mainly study of the specific application of colloquial rhetoric in the television show called The Seventh Day. As a new concept of the applied science, colloquial rhetoric is a main study of the rhetoric behavior and the law in the process of human colloquial communication. It is also an important component of rhetoric. In the modern information society, colloquial communication is one of the major methods of human communication. It includes both the most essential way of human communication in daily life, and the colloquial method of mass communication by using electronic media. Thus, the research on the host's colloquial communication in broadcast television is of a universal significance. To serve as a paragon of quintessential colloquial language, the colloquial method of host not only has the basic functions of the colloquial information, but also possesses strong normalization and artistry. Especially, it provides with the quotable and supervised function for those outstanding television programs. The Seventh Day is one of the good representations in civic news program. The anchorwoman Yuan Yuan of this program neither puts to use serious moral discourse, nor dances attendance on the audience. Yuan gains the audience's approval and emotional intimacy by dint of her obvious Beijing-dialect-mode mandarin and her simply but elegant screen appearance. At that moment, the civic new programs which are represented by The Seventh Day were shown on the television. One of the common characteristic of these programs is the integral core of care for people's livelihood dressing in beautiful colloquial rhetoric. This thesis will talk about the successful application of colloquial rhetoric, taking the civic new The Seventh Day as the example.
