Maritime Unmanned Wireless Sensor System can be used for maritime security. This system consists of a large number of sensor nodes and a control device. Sensor nodes form a self-organizing network system through wireless communication. They can perceive information of unknown objects in perceptual area and collect audio and image signals of unknown objects. The signals are transmitted to receiving unit of the control device by each sensor node after Error Correcting Coding (ECC), then to processing unit after decoding. This is how the system achieves the purpose of real-time remote monitoring. In this system. Error Correcting Coding and Decoding is the key to ensure the accuracy of signal transmission. In this paper, Reed-Solomon (RS) coding algorithm is used to achieve the ECC part.First. ECC algorithm theory based on the knowledge of communication theory is studied, and appropriate algorithm is selected, including the use of constant multiplier to reduce hardware resources. Second, every units of the circuit are designed in Verilog HDL language, including the universal module such as adder, multiplier and divider, etc. Finally, the circuits are designed in top level, including the use of pipeline structure in decoder. Every simulation is done in software Quartusâ…ˇor Modelsim. In this paper, RS(204,188) encoder and decoder is designed, which can correct 8 errors to the maximum.
