Along with the extensive demand of powdery explosive in the industrial manufacture and construction, the research and spread of continuous production technology on powdery explosive have become an intensive problem. Controlling the speed of the air flow through the pipeline is one of the key processes in the process of powdery explosive production. The control is of important significance in improving the quantity and quality of the product, improving the safety during the producing process and decreasing working intensity.According to the production process of air transportation of powdery explosive and the features of the speed control system of pipes are non-linear, large inertia and time delay, using the conventional PID control which has no parameter adaptive capacity cannot meet the demand for control. Fuzzy PID control strategy is used in this paper on the condition that the exact model of control object is hard to be built. According to feedback parameter from production process, using parameter self-tuning fuzzy PID controller to real-time control the speed of the air flow through the pipeline. This paper gives us a more detailed description of how the fuzzy PID control which is parameter self-tuning is designed and combines the fuzzy controller and PID controller and uses the output of fuzzy controller to modify the parameters of PID controller. Comparing the simulation results of MATLAB with conventional PID controller and fuzzy controller, parameter self-tuning fuzzy PID controller has better response characteristics, and steady-state high precision. There is significant improvement in settling time, enhancing the anti-interference ability of the system, and comprehensively improving the dynamic performance of the system.The fuzzy control strategy is used in powdery explosive production process. The control system has been in operation since June, 2007. The validity of this strategy is proved by the running results. The control system is stable and reliable. The speed of the air flow through the pipeline is effectively controlled. The continuous production is successfully realized. The quantity and quality of product are improved, thus significant economic benefits is obtained.
