3D accelerating engine is the most important part of the 3D graphics accelerating system. In the past, the research of 3D engine on the software platform realized plenty of complex rendering models and algorithms, but these complex models and algorithms to synthesize and implement on the FPGA contain a certain degree of difficulty. In view of the FPGA designs and its 3D accelerating engine platform, the further studies are needed.This paper studies the structure of 3D accelerating engine to speed up on the basis of the analysis to achieve the realization of FPGA-based image processing platform. Designed and implemented the 3D accelerating pipeline and other modules by using of modular thinking and IP-core technology. It is simulated, verified, achieved.Image processing platform choose the Virtex-IV FPGA as core device, and equipped with Hynix HY5DU573222F-25, AT91FR40162S, XCF32P VO48 and other components. To meet the 3D accelerating engine to accelerate the realization and verification, image processing platform also has DDR-SDRAM controller module, VGA output modules, bus controller module, the command interpretation module and associated modules. The 3D accelerating rendering engine includes 3D accelerating rendering pipeline, perspective transform pipeline, element to read, vertex FIFO, primitive FIFO, write the memory modules. For FPGA features, simplified the design, and realized a light pipe, texture pipelines, shader pipelines and Alpha integration. Finally, simulation is tested on modelsim and implement verified on the platform. The results show that the most functions of 3D accelerating rendering engine is implemented and it is satisfied.
