This passage focuses on the routing protocol of the wireless Mesh network. Being one of the network models in the WiMAX protocol, wireless Mesh network is constructed freely and easily. Mesh network, supplemented to PMP network, stretches the covering area of the PMP network while costing much less than the PMP mode, which is why so many researchers have been done in this area. Since the wireless Mesh network is self-constructed, the routing algorithm becomes the key factor deciding the QoS of whole network. Several classic wireless Mesh network routing protocols, AODV, DSR, DSDV, TORA and OLSR, are introduced and contrasted in detail based on many simulations. The passage comes to OLSR, cross-layer design and multipath under the analysis above. Multipath routing is widely discussed in recent years, and most of the proposed multipath algorithms are on-demand based. The problem in the on-demand algorithm is the overhead to the network. Since most of the on-demand based multipath algorithms need extra feedback information, this problem becomes worse. A proactive based Multi-path OLSR routing protocol is proposed in this paper. MOLSR algorithm utilizes the advanced OLSR to develop a brand new multipath routing protocol. The most distinguished part of MOLSR is the node discovery algorithm, which is used to discover every node on the route for the transmitting node so the disjoint path problem could be solved. Together with the MPR and the TC message in the original OLSR, MOLSR achieves much better performance with little more overhead than the classic OLSR algorithm. Several tests were carried out under different conditions to prove MOLSR.
