In this paper, the ignition of the semiconductor bridge (SCB) was studied by the output energy of the piezoelectric ceramic under the explosion combining theory with practice.An explosion-electric conversion device of SCB ignition was developed. In this device, the capacitor was charged by the electric energy produced from the piezoelectric ceramic by the shocking of an excitation source, then, the SCB was ignited by the discharge of the storage capacitor.The piezoelectric ceramic stack was designed based on the analysis of the piezoelectric ceramic performance and the working principle of multilayer piezoelectric electrical source. According to the theoretical calculation and analysis of electric energy produced by multi-layer piezoelectric, the multi-layer PZT piezoelectric ceramics stack with small size and large capacity was fabricated in parallel. In case of using iron clapboard as attenuation chip, the attenuation and change of the detonation shock wave in the medium and its surface were studied, and the shock wave applied on the piezoelectric ceramic stack was estimated accordingly.The effects of the kinds of piezoelectric material, shock wave pressure and energy storage capacitor on the SCB ignition were systematically studied according to the results of the static pressure experiments and explosion shock experiments. The conclusions included: (1) The charge voltage and the output energy increased with the increase of the number of the piezoelectric ceramics layers. (2) With the same kind and layer number of piezoelectric material, and energy storage capacitor, the output voltage and energy increased with the increase of the explosion shock wave on it. (3) With the same piezoelectric material and layer number, the charge voltage in the energy storage capacitor was inversely proportional to its capacitance value. And, the output energy was lager while the capacitance of energy storage capacitor was similar to the capacitance of piezoelectric ceramic stack capacity.In conclusion, it is possible to ignite the SCB by piezoelectric ceramic electrical source.
