An important feature of electronic detection system is to intercept more wireless signals and digitizes the analog signals for further processing. This is the principle of software radio technology. The digital signals need to be transferred into computer quickly to be analyzed or saved. Therefore, the interface that connects the detection system and computer plays an essential role in the performance of the whole system. The most commonly used interface is based on PCI bus, but in some cases the speed of PCI bus cannot meet the requirement due to the fast development of detection system. Somtimes, the PCI bus has greatly impeded the high speed of advanced detection system. Fortunately, PCI-Express technology is introduced as the next generation of I/O interconnects. Its speed is many times as the PCI bus. Therefore, research on interface based on PCI-Express can highly improve the performance of electronic detection system.Firstly, the real-time multi-channel detection system based on PCI interface and PCI-Express interface are introduced separately in this dissertation. Then the specification of PCI and PCI-Express bus including their's bridge chip are analysed.Secondly, this paper designed Windows driver for PCI and PCI-Express interface and compared their performance in different computers.Thirdly, for the hardware based on PCI bus this paper designed the application software which is used for speech monitor. For the the hardware based on PCI-Express bus this paper design the application software which is used for interferometer direction finder. Finally, the way of how to compile an algorithm that is programmed by MATLAB into a COM component is introduced, as well as the algorithm of interferometer direction finder.The Windows driver and application software for both PCI and PCI-Express card are completed in this dissertation. After testing in our computer, the Windows driver and application software for PCI and PCI-Express are validated to work normally. And the software meets all the requirements.
