The Pxi Zero Slot Controller

PXI bus controller, as a control module of PXI bus automatic test system, is used for managing all equipment resource, and works as the platform on which the test system software is running. It can control the workflow of testing module and data analysis.This paper carefully studied the principles of PXI controller based on In-depth understanding of the PXI specification, found out the way to design PXI controller according to the practical requirement. The whole Controller is divided into hardware platform and system platform.ETX embedded computer is the core of Hardware platform design, we can decide the type and the location of connector according to the actual needs. It can be integrated directly into the expansion of the I/O functions, which is not only increasing the motherboard's integration, but also shortening the R&D cycle and simplifying the entire production process, so that the controller can have small size, powerful function, and is also simple for maintenance and easy to upgrade. This paper focuses on the designs of PXI bridge interface circuit and other peripheral interface circuit. PXI controller has also presented the trigger bus. As the application of the trigger bus is very flexible, so we use CPLD to generate trigger signal, which can be configured flexibly to meet different needs according to different application.The design of the operating system is the XPE embedded operating system. XPE embedded operating system can be customized according to the actual application need, it takes up fewer resources and has all features of XP operating system. Desktop programs of XP or Windows 2000 can run on XPE without any change, which meets the requirements of PXI software environment. XPE operation system can protect system from crashing due to the operation mistake or document damage.Testing has showed that PXI controller meets the requirements of practical applications for its ability for control, resource management and data analysis.
