SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) is based on the SC-FDE (Single Carrier Frequency Domain Equalization) technology and discrete Fourier transform of the pre-coding. SC-FDMA has effective capacity of anti-interference, and it can achieve a lower peak-average power ratio. It is the wireless transmission technology of mobile communications in the uplink air interface in the 3rd generation cellular long-term evolution. In this thesis, the key technologies of SC-FDMA, especially the channel estimation methods of SC-FDMA system are discussed and simulated by computer. In the first part of this thesis, the fundamental theory of SC-FDMA is discussed. Then the contributions of this thesis and structure arrangement are proposed. In the second part of the thesis, as the basic theory of SC-FDMA, SC-FDE and OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) are discussed. Then a comparison of SC-FDE and OFDM in frequency domain equalization, channel capacity, PAPR and BER is studied. The comprehensive simulation is done. The third part sums up the concept of SC-FDMA, and its development, applications and current study situation. Some issues to be resolved in such field are pointed out too. The model and the subcarrier mapping of SC-FDMA are proposed. In the end, the different BER performance is compared through simulation in different fading channel environments. The fouth part studied channel estimation methods of SC-FDMA system and compared them by simulation. In the beginning, two channel estimation techniques are proposed in theory. The distribution and the design of the frame format of pilots are discussed later. Then some interpolation methods in channel estimation are investivated. At last, the performance of different interpolation methods are simulated and analyzed.
