Detection of concealed targets in the high cluttered background is of significant military meanings and promising prospects in civil applications. Both the penetrating ground radar which has been widely studied and the new style radar came in recently which is used to detect the concealed targets in the forest-cluttered environment, have become one of the hottest research areas of radar technique.According to the especial demand of antennas for the impulse Radar in detecting the concealed target, this work has designed and optimized the transmitted-received antennas. By using the designed impulse radar experimental platform, we performed some research experiments. Based on BP (Back Projection) method and TRM (Time Reversed Mirror) technique, the works of imaging concealed targets have been done. Further more, several key technical points of the EM-TRM (Electromagnetic Time Reversed Mirror) technique have been analyzed and synthesized. The main works of this work are summarized as following:1. The Vivaldi antennas are designed based on the analysis and the summary of the traditional Vivaldi antenna's design method. And in the time and frequency domain they are analyzed and evaluated combined with the needs of impulse radar.2. A new model of Vivaldi antenna using resistor-loaded is designed based on the Genetic Algorithm. This new model can strongly support the experiment for detecting the concealed targets with an efficient inhibition of the pulse tail.3. Using the designed Vivaldi antenna and the TRM imaging technique, we have conducted a series of imaging experiments. Some significative results and conclusions are proposed.4. Some reconstruction methods, such as BP (Back Projection) method and TRM (Time Reversed Mirror) technique have been studied based on the experimental data which are obtained from the impulse radar experimental platform.
