The goal of the thesis is to design the Two-Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter, which 3dB band-width is 12GHz. This thesis presents the simulation, optimization, design and a series of experimental studies while combining with specific experiment for the optical waveguide and electrode system of Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter to figure out its correlative theoretic design and technical experiment.The principle of phase shifter is established in this paper, the derivation and phase-shifting simulation of performance analysis for High Resolution Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter is done. The design principles and plan is established, which include material selection, waveguide design, and analysis of electrode structure and program options.The design of optical waveguide is based on program of effective index algorithm, combined with single-mode conditions to meet the parameters of ridge single-mode waveguide of High Resolution Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter. With BEAMPROP software which is based on finite-difference beam propagation method, the structure of Y-branching waveguide is analyzed and the optimization design of High Resolution Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter is put forward, while analyzing of the effects of waveguide spacing for waveguide transmission loss. Lastly, this thesis designs the waveguide structure of High Resolution Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter with BEAMPROP.The effects of various parameters for electrode's characteristic impedance and electrode loss is simulated, and conclude the relationship among various parameters when the characteristic impedance of electrode is 50?, and then compute the electrode parameters with ADS software. In succession, this thesis establishes the model of electrode system of High Resolution Two Output Polymer Photonic RF Phase Shifter with HFSS software, and then acquires a electrode system which meets the requirements of the 12GHz 3dB band-width, the return loss S11, the insertion loss S21 and the ratioĻof voltage to standing wave , through a series of simulation.In addition, this thesis carried out a series of experimental studies. Firstly, the waveguide techniques of optical waveguide are researched, and three units M-Z modulator optical waveguide are make. Secondly, the parallel-plate system of electrode polarization for polymer film is established, and polarization experiment with two group of samples(25%IPC-E+ Polysulfone and 25%DDR19+PMMA)has been done. Finally, the system is established in order to measure the optic coefficient of polymer film, and the sample of polarized polymer film ( 25%IPC-E+Polysulfone and 25%DDR19+PMMA). These experimental studies create the conditions for production of the device in the future.
