Doppler Weather Radar, an effective instrument of surveilling meso-scale and micro-scale disastrous weather system, can be used to detect the severe convection weather systems and to make the weather forecast.The Paper introduces the meteorological feather of storms,the general feather and development environment condition of convective cell, radar echo character of the severe storm weather, point out the evidence of storm serial algorithm. The algorithm is consisted storm cell center identify, severe centre tracking and cross correlation tracking, position-forecasting are based on linear extrapolation of storm tracking. The threshold of storm cell1 is established on the meteorology model, observation instance and some reference. User can replace the parameter value according on the local weather feather. To improve the accuracy of forecasting, this paper attempts to make use of Doppler radial velocity data to amend the forecast. The amendment based on VAP (Velocity Azimuth Processing) technique to retrieve the wind filed using the Doppler velocity data. By VAP we can acquire the vector field of the storm cell, and using the vector field to amend the forecasted position.Before storm to identify, the radar volume scan data will be pretreatment by mid-filtering, which can smooth data and filter out some clutter noise. Using the observation radar data of July 13, 2006, Mianyang airport to test the algorithm, the results show that the algorithm works well in storm cell identification and warnings, but the result of the forecasting amendment unsatisfactory.Finally, the quality and limitations of the module of storm identification are discussed, and the subsequent task and future developments are put forward.
