With the acceleration of the pace of our life and the rapid expansion of information, we have entered a graph-reading age which is characterized by less reading and more skimming,emphasizing on more focused and visualized information.As an important channel of information,the effectiveness of news reports has become an issue of great concern.Whereas,as a special means of expression and transmission,news graphic design can help to deliver concise news information effectively.In this sense,this article takes news graph as the research object.On the basis of analyzing concept and classification of news graph and understanding the relation between news information and graph transmission,the author raises the theory of duality for the character of news graph,i.e.news subject vs.visual communication;information clarity vs.visual readability;time effect vs.long-last impact.After audience questionnaire and interviewing professionals,combining personal experience,the author tries to put forward a solution for the realization of dual functions of news graph.The author proposes accuracy principle for the informative function of news graph,as well as easy-reading & good-looking principle for its visual function so as to offer the readers efficient information and visual enjoyment at the same time.Theoretical research on the news graph design is aimed at promoting the development and deepening of practice.The author hopes that this essay will furnish a new point of view for the relevant research.
