Under the background of increasingly competitive of global manufacturing, a lot of mathematics and engineering staff focus their sights on the layout model of equipment and software development. If the workshop layout is reasonable, have great impact on the operation of workshop equipment, equipment rooms logistics management, efficient use of space and production safety. The problem of equipment layout is NP-complete problem, the traditional methods of experience can't adapt the requirement of the layout of a modern enterprise, so this paper researches on the layout of the model equipment, as well as equipment layout model for the genetic algorithm optimization, which has a very important practical significance.This paper studied the application of the improved genetic algorithm in the manufacturing system. First, the paper has a detailed analysis and synthesis on the layout of equipment, as well as the status quo, the history and the application areas. Followed by this paper, a depth study of various genetic algorithm and genetic operators parameters is done, as the traditional genetic algorithm has some shortness such as blindness and so on, the improved genetic algorithm is referred. Then, focus on one-way and multi-line equipment, the layout of optimized mathematical model is established. At last, an example is given to improve the layout of the effectiveness of the equipment.
