Adaptive reliable(fault-tolerant) H_∞control for continuous descriptor linear systems with time delay and relevant problems are investigated in this thesis.Firstly,the problem of robust H_∞control for uncertain continuous descriptor linear systems with time delay via the memory state feedback is investigated.A sufficient condition is given by the linear matrix inequality(LMI) approach,which guarantees that,for all admissible uncertainties,the resulting closed-loop descriptor system is admissible and its H_∞norm is less than a prescribed bound.Meanwhile, the design method of the memory state feedback controller is proposed.Secondly,the problem of fault-tolerant H_∞control for continuous descriptor linear systems with time delay via the memory state feedback is studied.Based on LMI approach,a sufficient condition is given,which guarantees that the resulting closed-loop descriptor system is admissible and its H_∞norm is less than a prescribed bound in the case of actuator failures or not.Meanwhile,the design method of the memory state feedback fault-tolerant controller is proposed.Thirdly,(robust) fault-tolerant H_∞control against actuator failures and/or sensor failures for a class of descriptor systems via dynamical compensators is investigated. Based on H_∞theory in descriptor systems,a sufficient condition for the existence of dynamical compensators is derived,which guarantees that the resulting closed-loop descriptor system is admissible and its H_∞norm is less than a prescribed bound whether the actuator or the sensor fails or not.The designed dynamical compensators include free parameters,which can be chosen to optimize the closed-loop system performance.Fourthly,the problem of the adaptive reliable H_∞control for a class of continuous descriptor linear systems with time delay is investigated.Based on LMI and adaptive approaches,a sufficient condition is given,which guarantees that the resulting closed-loop descriptor-system is admissible and its H_∞norm is less than a prescribed bound in the case of actuator failures or not.And the design method of the adaptive reliable H_∞controller is proposed.This adaptive controller can adjust online to automatically compensate the effect of the fault on the system. The effectiveness of these designed methods proposed in this thesis are demonstrated by numerical examples.
