Information system of retail commerce management is one of the most important area in applications of computer. Due to the shortage of funds and weak information infrastructure, a lot of modest-size supermarkets have low operation efficiency. A purchasing-selling-stock commercial management information system is essential. With the thinking of software engineering by oriented-object method, this thesis analyzes the businesses of a local modest-size supermarket, such as goods inventory control, the purchasing control, and researches the main technique method, designs and development of the database.Firstly, this thesis introduces the UML(Unified Modeling Language) technique and the principle of the RUP(Rational Unified Process), discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the B/S pattern and the C/S pattern, then uses the C/S pattern according the project's request. Secondly, it analyzes the business requirement of the application system, and designs a functional module mainly consists of the POS subsystem and the background managerial subsystem. It use UML in modeling when the POS subsystem, the goods inventory control subsystem and the purchasing control subsystem is designed. Meanwhile, it describes the subsystems'static model and the relationship between them by using Use Case Diagram, Sequence Diagram and Active Diagram and so on. SQL Server 2000 are employed as back-end DBMS and author designs correctly data structure. Finally, author make the subsystem realization and a summary of main work, and carries on a study to the improvement of the system. The supermarket by informationized management can improve the operation efficiency. Along with the development of enterprise informationization, the management system is widely used in enterprises.
