Recent years, with the development of Internet, P2P (peer-to-peer) technology has developed whip and spur. P2P applications on the Internet emerge one after another, and used by hundreds of millions of people. Interralated investigation indicates that P2P traffic has taken up 60% to 80% of the total Internet traffic stealthily, and P2P became the killer application of Broad Band Internet. With the increasing of P2P operations, the side effect brought by P2P has emerged gradually, and it is becoming worse and worse. P2P traffic consumes network bandwidth hugely, arouses congestion of network, puts too much pressure on network providers, and meanwhile reduces the performance of other operations. So, it becomes very urgent to manage P2P traffic effectively.After comparing several existing P2P traffic management technology, in this paper, we proposed a domain-based P2P traffic management protocol named DDP (Domain Detecting Protocol), and designed a DDP system based on this protocol. During the process of interrelated research and designing, works we have done list as follows:1. Researched principles, characteristics, and problems of several existing P2P traffic management technology.2. After researching principles of existing P2P traffic management technology, we proposed a new method for P2P traffic management. Based on this method, we designed a domain-based P2P traffic management protocol named DDP. Based on DDP, we designed a P2P traffic management system named DDP system.3. Researched PPR, which is the core device of DDP system, from perspectives of network service framework, management of network topologic information, management of peer, and management of PPC.4. Implemented DDP on BitTorrent protocol. Modified BitTorrent client so as to let it support DDP, and be able to join DDP system.5. Deployed a DDP system in a real MAN, and using network traffic monitoring tool and modified BitTorrent client to test the performance of this DDP system.6. Analyzing the result of the test, and finally got the conclusion that DDP can reduce inter-domain P2P traffic effectively, and improve the user experience of peers which located in the domain.
