Computers are more and more used in many kinds of important fields, the reliability and fault tolerance are also becoming more and more important. In the whole software architecture, operating system is the fundamental layer and key layer, its reliability would influence the software above directly. So how to improve the reliability and fault tolerance becomes one of the key points in improving software. On the other hand, since the function of application is stronger, and operating system is also becoming huge and complex, avoiding threat of operating system is the focus being paid more attention. The recovery of memory-crash of operating system is brought out according to the above two sides. But since the complexity of operating system, there are some obstacles in implement. The article analyses the problems and obstacles, brings out a recovery method for memory-crash of operating system using virtualization. The recovery method for memory-crash of operating system, is an "estimate-operate" process. Firstly, how to judge the memory-crash, according to which parameters, assuming what conditions, are all needs to be considered. Secondly, if the memory is crashed, the operating system does not have the handling ability, and how to do the recovery. In all, this article brings out a recovery method for memory-crash of operating system using virtualization. This method spurns the reliability of network for remote repair; gets over the localization of local recovery. The recovery system using virtualization could repair the crashed memory in a short time, both of which are built on Linux running on Xen VMM. At the same time, the system with recovery function only makes the ignored effect of performance.
