With the developing of civil aviation, there are more and more flights in the area at the same time. The mode of ATS (Air Traffic System) is changed. The radar system becomes more and more important.The radar system includes PSR (Primary Surveillance Radar) and SSR (Second Surveillance Radar). It is very easy for the air traffic controller to know the flight number, azimuth and altitude from the SSR (Second Surveillance Radar). For this reason, the radar system changed its role from surveillance to a way of air traffic controlling. The SSR (Second Surveillance Radar) is the greatest technological advance of air traffic system.The SSR works with PSR, its primary antennas are installed on the top of PSR, wheeled round with PSR. In 70th of 20 century, the radar system became automatic because of the combine of the computer technology and radar technology. In this system, both PSR and SSR signal are inputted; three type data are inputted into the high speed computer, PSR data, and SSR data are transformed into digital signal. The third data is the flight information, which is inputted by the air traffic controller. The system processes those data and display the information on the screen.There are two radar system used in GuiYang airport, Westinghouse Radar system built in 1997 and Toshiba Radar system built in 1989. As the stability of the radar system, Westinghouse Radar system works as master system. Toshiba Radar system works as slaver system. Both of the radar systems have automatic processing system. Each automatic processing system identify its owner radar signal. Because the air traffic controllers are used to the interface of the Westinghouse radar system, it means a lot to make the Westinghouse Radar automatic processing system processing the Toshiba Radar signal. If the Westinghouse Radar automatic processing system processes Toshiba Radar signal directly, the stability of radar system will be better.Because the radar system is very complex, only the signals processed by the automatic processing system are involved in this article. According to analyzing the transmission protocol of the radar signal, we will know the difference of the radar signal of two radar systems. The purpose of the research is to find a way of how to transform Toshiba radar SSR signal into Westinghouse radar SSR signal with MCU.
