| Down-converter is one of the most key components in modern communication systems. It is necessary for any receivers to lower frequency by down-converter.Based on the microwave communication, this paper presents the principles and the design of a compact K-band down-converter. The system adopts the structure that first double the LO frequency then mix with the RF frequency.This paper introduces the design principles and design methods of the microwave multiplier, mixer, amplifier and band-pass filter. In detail, base principles of multiplier are introduced, and an active multiplier is designed. Base principles of mixer are also introduced, the single-balanced structure is also adopted to design the mixer. The band-pass filters use parallel-coupled lines which is very common and efficiency. At last an IF amplifier is chosen to finish the whole system. Taken the account into miniaturization, the whole module's dimension is less than 47.5mm×28mm.Agilent ADS is used to design, simulate and optimize all the circuits and system. From the results of the simulation, we can find that the circuit satisfies the design demands. |
