In recent years, the development of virtual reality technology very quickly, in many areas began to use 3-D visualization technology. Computer simulation is the most widespread use of such technology in one of them. Based on the three-dimensional simulation of the real world, it allows users to be more and more visual information.Manual metal arc welding is currently the most widely used a welding method. Welder training in the use of steel is very large, virtually increased training costs. In order to reduce training costs, manual metal arc welding simulation becomes very valuable. For welding simulation, it is an very important part how computer find and track the 3-D position of virtual welding rod. In this paper, the use of graphic simulation techniques, design a set of solutions about finding and tracking rod. And I initially realized to achieve in the programme.The spatial location of the object, we use two cameras constitute a binocular stereo systems, simulation of human eyes to determine the spatial location. By the camera to capture the image real-time analysis and identification, acquisition electrode on the characteristics of the image. Because of the special nature of welding simulation, real-time rendering and accuracy requirements of our binocular vision system to the targeted adjustment, image segmentation and recognition of the initiative to produce a set of algorithms.Finally, the paper shows the result of the real-time detection and error detection about the programme, and gives some analysis.
