Qtopia Platform-based Jabber Instant Messaging Client, The Design And Realization

Instant Messaging (IM) is a kind of communication based on computer network, which can carry out real-time text, image, audio and video by using point to point protocol. With the rapid development of Internet and the diversification of network applications, Instant Messaging is becoming the hotspot of Internet applications.Along with the popularity of mobile phone and the mightiness of its function, the market has already prepared for the transplant of IM from PC to handheld device. Except for the traditional advantages, IM facility on mobile phone is of special portability and popularity, by which it can provide users with service more conveniently and faster. The users can exchange with anybody wherever and whenever in any way.Jabber is an open protocol for the real-time exchange between any two points on the Internet and the technology built on these protocols. The Jabber Protocol is based on XML and opening the protocol and source code. So it provides not only the exchange between two same IM systems, but also the probability of exchanging between the different IM systems. The framework architecture of Jabber is distributed, modular and expansive, which makes it simple to develop and easy to implement.Qtopia Phone Platform provides the user with friendly user interface. The platform is a simple developing environment. And the developer can get the open source. So many developers work on it.In this thesis, the framework of Jabber IM system, Jabber protocols, the framework and key technology of Jabber server are analyzed detailedly. And a Jabber client based on Qtopia platform has been designed, which combines the character of Jabber protocol and Qtopia platform. Its characters are as follows: firstly, it is an IM client on mobile phone; secondly, it implements the exchange between variety different IM systems.
