Descriptor systems widely exist in many fields of our society, such as economic systems, power systems, biological systems, chemical processes, electrical networks, robots controlling etc. Within the last 30 years, those problems related to the theories and applications of linear descriptor systems have been paid attentions by many scholars, the researches about the linear, continuous and time-invariant descriptor systems have been gradually developed to the time variable descriptor systems, decentralized control descriptor systems, time-delay descriptor systems, nolinear descriptor systems, uncertain descriptor systems and so on. Also, the content of the research is very richly, such as structure analysis, stability analysis, pole assignment, eigenstructure assignment, state estimation, robust control and optimal control of descriptor systems. Because of the important meaning, the eigenstructure assignment has been widely studied by the most scholars. In the most of literatures, the eigenstructure assignment of linear descriptor systems are realized by using state feedback or output feedback, also proportional-derivative feedback, output plus partial derivational state feedback or dynamic compensator. In this paper, the problems of eigenstructure assignment of descriptor systems are studied by using dynamic compensator. Parametric representations of the solution to the problem are established, and a designing algorithm for the dynamical compensator which guarantees the desired closed-loop eigenstructure is also presented. Furthermore, two numerical examples are provided to show the effect of the algorithm. Compared with any other researches about the issues that used the dynamic compensator to finish the eigenstructure assignment of the descriptor systems, the algorithm provided in this paper needs less restrictive conditions.
