With the rapid development and wide application of network technology, computer network has come into every field of society and plays a greater role in social economy. Meanwhile as the scale of network has been expanding and its structure becomes more and more complicated, the demand of Network Management System becomes more urgent. It is necessary and significant to do research and implementation of network topology processing technology which are the essential functions in network management. Integrating geographical information system (Web-GIS) and the network management, we can implement fast network fault location on the electronic geography map. We also can give an intuitional interface that facilitates the management. This thesis firstly analyzes the research state of the network management technology and Web-GIS technology, and the deficiency of current network management system in performance and efficiency. Then, based on discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the topology on the data link layer, this thesis improves the existing algorithms. The algorithm can be accurate, real-time data link layer discovery of the topology, which has clear ideas as to achieve simple and workable. Then, this thesis introduces the overall structure of the system of network topology manager base on Web-GIS, and analysis of the various parts of the function and role and structure of the given system. Then implement the topology discovery algorithm base on Web-GIS rely on the data base of node position. In the end, this thesis implements the topology discovery system base on Web-GIS. This system resolve how effectively integrate network topology and GIS. It also can provide object-oriented network utilities management methods, implement fast network fault location on the electronic geography map.
