With the development of IC packaging industry ,The manufacture of packaging equipment is rapidly developing. The dispensing system is also widely using today for it is the key equipment in the process of IC Packaging. There are several forms of dispensing: time-pressure, Archimedes screw, piston and jetting. The Archimedes screw is used more and more widely because it features many advantages which include strong adaptability for it can dispense kinds of fluid, and the ability to produce different size of dots, and the ability to draw patterns. The article described the research and using of Archimedes screw .At the basic of predecessor's research, under the different model of Non-Newtonian Fluid,Newtonian Fluid, the dispensing theory of Archimedes screw is further developed by using the numerical analysis, numerical simulation and experiment; The fluid rate equation and the quality of flow is derived based on the particularly geometry of the Archimedes screw. Two geometrical configurations of the channel, with gap and zero gap, are investigated; Then, the model are simulated in Fluent and get the pressure field and velocity field; An experiment is achieved which proved the result of simulation. The conclusions gotten from the simulation and experiment are: in the same angle velocity of pump, the quality of dispensing is reduced when the viscosity of flow is increased; Under the same viscosity, the dispending is increased when the rate of pump is increased; The influence on dispensing quality almost approach zero when the gap is less than or equal to 0.001D (D is the diameter of pump). The flow rate will descend with the increasing of the gap. The influence of gap, compared with screw parameter, the rotational velocity and the needle, is minute; The power consumption of pump is analysised simply. The 50% of power consumption is in the gap; The above conclusions, especially the gap of the pump and machine channel , is referenced when the pump is designed.
