The technology of bar code has been regarded as the important means for automation recognition and imports of information data. Among the technologies of bar code, bar code recognition is the key for application. the rapid development of bar technology could not be followed with traditional ways.Under the trend, creating a new way becomes necessary and urgent. In this paper the recognition methods of the one-dimension and two-dimension PDF417 has been analyzed.The bar code detection arithmetic of EPS format has been investigated, in order to counter serious issues of the bar code strip and the spatial disproportion, unable to distinguish correct bar code accurately, lower bar code rate, which are caused by the black ink expansion factors in the process of recognition. Compared with traditional ways, to some extent, the impact of bar code on point spread function, and errors of the check for Machinery equipment could be overcome. The precision for detection and the accuracy for bar code recognition have been improved notably.For two-dimension bar code, the decline of recognition will be reflected by the blurred edge. Traditional edge detection algorithm for bar code signal utilize first order differential, then find out the edge position of bar code image. The main faults for the operator are noise sensitivity and low precision for edge location. Aim at the issue of the decline of recognition caused by blurred edge, tow-dimensional edge detecting arithmetic based on mathematical morphology has been worked out in the paper. Appropriate structural element has been selected according to encoded mode, and make check for image of bar code. The result suggests that the edge of bar code could be identified, edge details could be protected, measurement of precision could be elevated effectively, and the accuracy of recognition could be increased observably. Meanwhile, the impact of bar code on point spread function could be restrained well, too.Finally, the coding theory of two-dimension bar code, the design of decoding system and the way of implement have been investigated in this paper.
